What is a percentage decrease?
A percentage decrease measures how much a value has fallen, expressed as a percentage of the original. It answers the question: by what percentage did this number go down? Use it for price drops, weight loss, declining traffic, or any before-and-after pair where the value decreased.
The formula is ((original value − new value) / original value) × 100. The drop is divided by the original value, so the result is always relative to where you started. For $80 falling to $64, the percentage decrease is 20%.
