Adding or subtracting clock times means converting both values to minutes since midnight, performing the operation, and normalizing the result so it always falls between 00:00 and 23:59. The normalization handles day rollover automatically, so 23:00 plus 02:00 returns 01:00 — the time on the following day.
The 12-to-24 conversion follows the standard military time rule: for PM hours after 12, add 12 to the hour (so 2:30 PM becomes 14:30); for AM hours, keep the hour except 12 AM which becomes 00. This calculator applies that rule in both directions.
